ENGLISH definitely have a lot of castles, but very few who are close to central London. Even fewer still are inspired from behind a 18th-century novel. Well, Strawberry Hill’s Gothic Mansion offers both. Built in the late 1700s by Horace Walpole, who is a politician, historian and novelist, Gothic Mansion has recently reopened to the public after two years of renovation.
Part of the tour at the Gothic Mansion, one of which highlights the influence of Walpole’s novel “The Castle Of Otranto“ which is widely regarded as the first gothic novel and the starting point for writers like Bram Stoker and Edgar Allan Poe.
Parks around the Gothic Mansion is also open to the public and has been restored as the original as accurately as possible, including a penchant Walpole was in a small forest filled with lemon tree. DID you know that the oldest and largest city in Poland has a museum that holds many stories? At least there are 4 museums that we visited during our obligatory visit to Poland, including the following:
1. Museum of Contemporary Art
MOCAK (Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow) is the first contemporary art museum in the city of Krakow which was designed by Italian architect Claudio Nardi and Leonardo Proli. Most complete information about the museum can be seen in mocak.com.pl.
2. Schindler Factory
There is also adjacent to the old factory MOCAK Schindler (mhk.pl) that displays the works of contemporary film footage, artifacts in the stage a few periods, sound effects, re-creations and much more. This is a museum documentation made since the Nazi era (1939 to 1945).
3. Polish Art Gallery museum’s 19th Century
The museum’s oldest gallery in Krakow is only in the Renaissance Cloth Hall. Although in the 21st century museum experience of refurbishment and added a cafe, but the art of the 19th century Poland was still intact and complete with visual aids. More information is on muzeum.krakow.pl.
4. Podziemia Rynku
