Lighthouse Lighthouse or Kopu Kopu is one of the famous tourist symbols in Hiiumaa, Estonia. This is one of the world’s oldest lighthouse still in continuous use since completed in 1531. The tower was opened for tourism activities since 1999. You can ride to the top of the tower to see the scenery with trees and beautiful sea. Entrance fee to this lighthouse 5EEK (around Rp4.000).

The lighthouse marks the small peninsula Hiiu Kopu and warned ships to stay away from the coastline. Light from the Lighthouse Kopu can be used for navigation as far as 48 kilometers. Kopu lighthouse built atop the highest hill on the island of Hiiumaa, Tornimagi, formerly known by the name, Upper Dagerort. This lighthouse building height is 36 meters or 102.6 feet above sea level. This makes it as the highest lights in the Baltic Sea coast.

Kopu lighthouse prism shape is square and the tower is only a stone laid up with a height of 24 meters while the outer layer of the wall 0didukung by a mixture of lime plaster. This lighthouse body contains approximately 5000 cubic meters of rock, weighing a total of 12 000 tonnes. Local limestone and glacial rocks used as building materials. Originally, the tower’s base is solid rock without a room and to reach the top of the lighthouse had to use an external wooden staircase but in reconstructing the wooden ladder was then replaced with iron.
