Perhaps Ternate in North Maluku is the small islands in the eastern archipelago. But life was not much different from a metropolitan city.
Late at night which has not become an obstacle for the residents to continue to meet the corners of the city. Loud music coming from public transportation still blaring, motorcycle passing by gesitnya, but there is one place that always shows the fallen if the night has arrived.
Nothing else is Swering (concrete retaining wall strikes the sea) in Ternate. It is strategically located, close to the markets, banks, and a variety of hotels being targeted by many tourists. But for sure, so the day started late, the area became Swering hawker centers that provide many options on the taste.
Yeah, right. Rows of stalls tent looks closer together along the Swering. Foods that are sold very diverse. There’s chicken satay, lamb satay, soup brothers, green bananas, coto Makassar, grilled fish, chicken and pecel pecel catfish, up to a variety of snacks such as fried and bright moon cakes martabak alias. No wonder if Swering always a footstool if the stomach was very hungry.
Entered, the sense of smell as if tickled by the aroma of various foods in order disambangi calling. At the time confused why suddenly sounded very dialect known wandering among the boisterous voice. “Why, the dialect of Java?” I thought.
Swering turned into a kind of melting pot with many immigrants who crowded the area. The merchant who peddles food from Java – mostly East Java – Padang, Madura, and Makassar. Each vendor also offers the typical food of his native region, though it would have adjusted to the citizens of Ternate tongue. So, do not be surprised if you see food carts selling gado gado, pecel, ketoprak, or meatballs.
Swering showing innocence at the same time enjoy the comfort of the sunset time. Dusk is a great time to stroll around. A burst of orange colored sky looks blue, while on the ferry to and fro the beach scene that’s fun. That’s belly began to sing, the food was immediately sambangi you seek.
