Some of us may have heard that Japan is the most expensive country in the world. Problems that may arise if we want to backpacking to Japan, how to budget backpacking  in Japan can be suppressed. Here are some tips to push the budget for backpacking in Japan.

Transportation
Seishun 18 kippu (read: Seishun juuhachi kippu)

This is a cheap ticket for the train in Japan. Physical form can be seen in the picture below. These tickets are sold only during the school holidays in Japan (holiday new year, spring break (early March – early April) and summer (early July – early September). For the exact date can be viewed on the website japan-guide.  The price is 11,500 yen (as of August 2006) for 5 days unconsecutive (so 2300 yen a day). Do not convert into dollars, because the reply if you convert it so expensive. In Japan 2300 yen a day for all local trains for rapid + throughout Japan operated by Japan Railways practically very cheap.

Trade off with time. Examples of the Shinkansen is 2.5 hours from Tokyo to Kyoto, with a Seishun 18 kippu need 9 hours. But the price could be 1 / 5 the price of Shinkansen (13.000an vs. yen in 2300 yen). These tickets have five “space” / box each spacenya was stamped by the clerk at the entrance (Manned gate) to the platform. Since the stamp is valid for the date in the stamp (1 × 24 hours). So assuming your tickets there are five boxes. Examples on Monday morning you want to use 18 kippu. You enter through Manned gate, the officer stamped, and during Monday’s day you are free to anywhere in Japan (use the train or rapid / local which is operated JR). Recommended for backpacking from Tokyo to the West (Kansai region, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, Nagasaki)

Hokkaido and Higashinihon Pass
Resemblance Seishun 18 kippu. This difference applies only to from Tokyo to the north (Hokkaido Tohoku +). The second difference worth 10,000 yen and is valid for 5 consecutive days. Its really recommended (compared Seishun 18 kippu) if you want to Hokkaido.  You can also combine those transportation.
